  3. @3 The following is for use with Scala HT100:

  5.  Remember to consult your Scala manual if you're stuck with anything,
  6.  
  7. but I can't really see any problems because it's so easy to use.
  8.  
  9. Make sure that you've got your source video at the ready and also make
  10.  
  11. sure that you know exactly when you want your titles to appear.
  12.  
  13. Once scala is running, select @3New.
  14.  
  15. @1 Now select @3O.K, @1and ignore all the rubbish on the screen and
  16.  
  17. click on @3O.K@1 again. You should now be seeing a blue screen with
  18.  
  19. a few coloured bars at the bottom of the screen and a cursor insert
  20.  
  21. block. Type in the following:
  22.  
  23. "This is my first video, and I'm as clever as Molgy"        #7More>>>
  24.  
  25.  
  26. @7Click on @3@1O.K and you will see the main menu appear with a script
  27.  
  28. called 'This is my first video'.    See screenshot 1 page (on the menu)
  29.  
  30. for the screen you should be seeing.
  31.  
  32. Under the heading WAIT on Scalas main menu, you will see a small mouse
  33.  
  34. icon. Click on this. There should be a small bar at the bottom of the
  35.  
  36. screen which reads: Wait in seconds: Click on the arrow pointing right
  37.  
  38. five times. It should now say: Wait in second: 4.
  39.  
  40. You have now told Scala to display the piece of text for 4 seconds.
  41.  
  42. Select run to see your little script.
  43.  
  44. Once Scala returns to the main menu, look just to the right of where
  45.  
  46. it says 'This is my first video', you should see the heading WIPE.
  47.  
  48. Just under it, is a box with the number 5 on it (see picture)   #7More>>>

  50. @1Click on the box and a small panel will appear at the bottom of the
  51.  
  52. screen. Click on any of the wipe effects, then select show.
  53.  
  54. Repeat this process until you have found a wipe you like (try the baby 
  55.  
  56. one-doh!). Select @3O.K @1and you'll find yourself back at the main
  57.  
  58. menu. To make the script work and wipe properly we need to add another
  59.  
  60. slot in to our script, so select @3new@1 again.
  61.  
  62. Now click on O.K and click it again when it appears, just like before.
  63.  
  64. Type in the following the same way you did before, only click on the green 
  65.  
  66. coloured bar and immediately after click on the small block to the right 
  67.  
  68. of the word FONT.
  69.  
  70. Now type this in:
  71.  
  72. "Molgy licks bus stops"                                         #7More>>>

  74. @1The text should now be in green. Select @3O.K@1 and again when it
  75.  
  76. appears.

  78. You should be on the main menu again.

  80. Under the Wait heading and parallel with your new box named
  81.  
  82. Molgy licks bus stops, select the mouse icon again and this time
  83.  
  84. alter the wait time so that it says 3, don't worry if you go to far
  85.  
  86. just click the left arrow (decrease arrow) until it reaches 3 again.

  88. Click on O.K.
  89.  
  90. Now just like you did before, change the wipe for the Molgy licks
  91.  
  92. bus stops slot.(see above) Select O.K once you're done.

  94. Now it's just a case of selecting run. ENJOY!                   #7More>>>

  99. You can other fancy stuff like insert pictures into the background,
  100.  
  101. changing effect speeds and selecting how you want the text to enter
  102.  
  103. the screen which is a really neat feature.

  105. It really is just a case of doing what I have mentioned above only while
  106.  
  107. you are on each menu take a look around for words such as speed and
  108.  
  109. waits, this will give you command over the length of time Scala spends
  110.  
  111. on each part of your script.
  112.  
  113. Remember when you are actually recording your script on to tape
  114.  
  115. bring the fade slider all the way down before the Scala menu gets
  116.  
  117. recorded onto your tape, otherwise you will have to record the whole
  118.  
  119. script again which may waste valuable time.                 #7More>>>

  122. Other extras for video titling include the edit plug which helps you
  123.  
  124. find that exact frame to edit. Digitisers which mean you can digitise
  125.  
  126. any picture and fade it in and out at the beginning of a video.
  127.  
  128. 1 meg Amigas will run out of memory when using fairly large scripts
  129.  
  130. of about 12 slots +. A hard-drive will help ease disk-swapping as well.
  131.  
  132. You could also use your favourite pro-tracker modules for the
  133.  
  134. background music if you have the correct equipment and leads.
